There was no Junior edge today, as we had the Family Service. Wasn't it exciting to see Tim baptised today? I hope you all remembered what we learnt about Baptism a few weeks ago!!

Check out the God and Me page to learn more about Psalm 139.

Don’t forget to come next Sunday as we discover more about God the Father!
The question for this week: What is something you don’t know about yourself that God the Father knows?

Our Bible verse to learn and remember:
Psalm 139:1

You have looked deep into my heart, Lord, and you know all about me.

What a great start to our new series, God the Father! One person from each of the small groups experienced what it was like to be totally surrounded and protected as they were guided to today’s memory verse. It was a bit like how God protects and guides us, if we trust him. And what an amazing God he is! He knows all about us, even our most secret thoughts, and yet still loves us heaps!!

In Junior edge today we learnt about Communion. Communion is about remembering what Jesus has done for us. During Communion people take a piece of bread/cracker, eat it, and then a little glass of juice. We all eat and drink together to remember the absolutely awesome thing Jesus did for us when His body was broken for us and His blood was spilled for us. Jesus is a friend we want to remember; he is a friend we want to thank over and over again!
Next week we start a new series: ‘God the Father’. Come along and join Timothy and his grandfather in ‘The Shed’ and discover what Jesus has to teach us about his, and our, Father, God.

The question for this week: It was at a special meal that Jesus had with his disciples when he talked about the broken bread reminding us of his broken body and the wine reminding us of his blood. What is this special meal now known as?

Our Bible verse to learn and remember:
The Lord meant that when you eat this bread and drink from this cup, you tell about his death until he comes. 1 Corinthians 11:26

It was so good to see so many people back at Junior edge today! We give a special welcome to Dana, Noah and Kevin as they have come up from Kool Kids to Junior edge.
Today we learnt about baptism - that it isn’t just about getting wet! It is a symbol, or sign, that a person has said sorry to God for disobeying him, has believed that Jesus took the punishment for his/her sin when he died on the cross and has chosen to live God’s way.
Baptism is also a symbol of Jesus dying, being buried and coming alive again. (see Romans 6:4) When someone is baptised, it is like they are saying that they have died to sin and they have become a new person, that their life has changed.
When people get baptized, it shows they have made a very important choice! They have chosen to make Jesus the Leader and Saviour of their lives. It is the beginning of a great adventure as a Christian.

The question for this week: Why should we be baptised? (3 stickers if you get all 3 reasons!)

Our Bible verse to learn and remember:
. . . all who share in Christ Jesus by being baptised also share in his death. Romans 6:3
