We hope you are enjoying the holidays. Some people have made good use of the warmer weather and gone to the beach; others are enjoying Disneyland in Hong Kong!
Wherever you are this week, ENJOY and KEEP SAFE!

Don’t forget the EPIC SUPERKIDS fun day on Thursday. It sounds like it is going to be HEAPS of fun!

It was so good to see Emily G back on her feet today. Continue to pray for Emily, that her arm will heal well and that she will be able to use her fingers and hand normally once again.

Also, don’t forget to collect donations for GET THE WORD OUT – CHINA project. They are due back on the first week of term.

14/9/14
How many of you have more than one Bible, or at least more than one Bible in the house? We are very fortunate to have our own Bibles or, at least, access to one in your house. Imagine what it would be like if you were not able to read about all the great stories and messages from God and Jesus..
There are many people in our world that do not have access to a Bible and there are heaps of children missing out on being able to read God’s Word. This is what it is like for many people living in the poorer villages of China.
Today we learnt about China, a country of 1.25 billion people. We also learnt about the Bible Society’s GET THE WORD OUT – CHINA project.

For the next couple of months we will be raising money to help pay for paper for Bibles in China. Don’t forget to fill the ‘Hong Bao’ (red envelopes), that you took home today, with donations from family and friends. You can even give some of your own pocket money, as Angie suggested!

Remember, the Hong Bao are due back the first week of term 4 (Sunday, 12th October).

PRAY for Emily G, who had an accident while dancing, and is in hospital.

Junior edge - Today the kids began planning for the posters they will be producing to show different images of the Bible. This week’s question: Why should we read the Bible?

10/8/14
Today, in Junior edge, we heard about two very different kings from the Old Testament of the Bible. King Jehoiakim was a bad king. He disobeyed God. He was an evil king. God asked Jeremiah, the prophet to write his words on a scroll. God said he was angry with King Jehoiakim and the people but if they asked for forgiveness he would not punish them.
But King Jehoiakim did not obey God’s words. Instead he cut up the scroll and threw it into the fire. As a result, King Jehoiakim was killed.

King Josiah, however, was a good king. He obeyed God. One of the things King Josiah did was to organize for the temple be repaired It was during this time that the high priest found a book that contained the laws that God had given Moses. When King Josiah heard what was in the book he became very upset because he realized his people had not been obeying God. But then King Josiah promised to obey God and to live his way. He asked his people to make the same promise and obey God.
We also learned that the Bible is like a mirror. It shows us what we are really like – the good and the bad. When we read the Bible and don’t do what it says, it is like someone who looks in the mirror and then, when he/she walks away, forgets what he/she looks like!
This week’s question: What do we need to do when we read God’s instructions in the Bible?

Our Bible verse to learn and remember:
Timothy 3: 16.  All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching the truth, rebuking error, correcting faults and giving instruction for right living.

BOOKS OF THE BIBLE CHALLENGE:
How are you going with learning the books of the Bible? Some people have already learnt them all! Well done to those people!
Don’t forget you will receive a very special prize once you have achieved this challenge.

This week your challenge is to know ALL the books of the Old Testament (Genesis to  Malachi)

Check out the God and Me page of this blog to learn more about the Bible.
