CELEBRATING GOD’S FAITHFULNESS

As the year comes to a close, we can look back on the year we’ve just finished, and we can be thankful. We can be thankful that it’s over, but we can also be thankful for all the great things that happened over that year. We can think about the good times God gave us, and we can think about the bad times when he carried us through. As we think through all these things, we can praise God and thank him for his goodness.

For some of you, this year was the best year yet. Everything was awesome, beginning to end, except maybe the homework. Your family’s doing great. You have great friends by your side. You learned a lot, and you have much to be thankful for. Praise God for his blessings, and praise him for giving you such a good year.

I’m sure there are some who didn’t have such a good year. Maybe it was tough academically. Maybe it was tough at home. Maybe the one thing you’re most thankful for is that this year is finally over. Whatever hardships you may have faced, God was with you, just as he was with the Israelites when they were in Egypt. He never forgot about you, and as tough as things were, he got you here, to the end of another year and the start of a new one.

Through good and through bad, God has been with all of us this year. God has given us blessings, and he has given us comfort. He’s given us new friends, and he’s taught us new things. God will be with us over the holidays, and he will be with us in the new year.
Let’s be thankful that God has seen us through another year filled with his goodness and his blessings. Praise God for the end of school, and praise him for the holidays ahead!

Our Bible verse for this week is,

“I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. I will consider all your works and meditate on all your mighty deeds.” -Psalm 77:11-12

HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY EVERYONE!!

THE STARS OF CHRISTMAS
11/12/16
The King Sings
King Herod really didn’t get it! Here was Jesus, God’s very own Son, and King Herod wanted to kill Him. He didn’t want anything to do with Jesus. Today, there are people who don’t want to make Jesus the king of their lives. Like King Herod, many people today want to sit on the throne and be the ruler of their own lives. They want to do whatever they want, whenever they want. They don’t want to answer to anyone!
Jesus deserves to be the king of our lives because He loves us more than anyone on this planet. Jesus created the universe and everything in it. Jesus created you and calls you His masterpiece. Jesus knew you would sometimes do really bad things—but loved you anyway. Then, Jesus decided to take the punishment you deserved for all those bad things. Rather than a golden crown, Jesus chose a crown of thorns FOR YOU. That’s what makes Jesus different. He is the perfect king, and if we follow Him, He will make our lives extraordinary. You can trust that if you make Jesus your #1 priority, He will never disappoint you!

Our Bible memory verse for this week is,
Philippians 2:10-11
At the name of Jesus every knee should bow . . . and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

THE STARS OF CHRISTMAS
27/11/16
The Wise Guys
. . . and so another episode of The Stars of Christmas! We’ve been having an extraordinary time looking at the people who starred in the actual Christmas story. Each week we are learning that Jesus is the true Star of Christmas and following Him leads to an extraordinary life. This week we learnt how to have extraordinary joy this Christmas. This joy comes from giving instead of receiving. The Wise Men back in Jesus’ time knew this—but, then, they weren’t called the Wise Men for nothing!
The Wise Men gave gifts to Jesus because they loved Him and wanted to worship and honour Him. It brought them extraordinary joy to give.
Some things are really easy to give, and some things are really hard to give. God will always help us give to others. He will give us strength to give even when it’s really hard. This week, we can give to our friends, our family, and even our neighbours. Don’t forget that giving to others brings extraordinary joy.

Our Bible memory verse for this week is,
Acts 20:35
You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’

THE STARS OF CHRISTMAS
13/11/16
Mary Ordinary
Come and discover the one true ‘Star’ of Christmas, Jesus, and how following Him leads to an extraordinary life. Each week, we will be part of the Star of Christmas Award ceremony and meet the week’s ‘competitor’.
Today we discovered how God made Mary’s life extraordinary.  Even though we may be ordinary, God can make something extraordinary out of our lives as well. For that to happen, we need to learn to be more like Mary—humble and willing. When we put our trust in Jesus, He will give us the power to do extraordinary things for God.

Our Bible memory verse for this week is,
“I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.”  Philippians 4:13

How can I be bully-proof?
‘The Dark’ is using Captain Barrett to destroy relationships among the Starship Alpha crew. However, Captain Ryan decided to show kindness to Captain Barrett and concentrate on fighting the real enemy, The Dark.
Captain Ryan realizes that it is better to care about what God thinks of us rather than what people think of us and stops the deactivation process of Ziggy. Meanwhile, Ziggy discovers that the energy shield can protect them from attack. Captain Ryan helps Captain Barrett see that we must stand up against those that want to bully us.

Paul encourages the Christians in Corinth – although he’s been beaten he’s not crushed; he’s had pain, but he’s not destroyed. He reminds them that the situations they are in don’t have to change who they are on the inside.

When we choose to follow Jesus, when we become Forever Friends with God, we become part of God’s family and God is always there for us. When we really believe what God thinks of us it is like an energy shield around us, helping us to become Bully-proof!

Our Bible memory verse for this week is,
1 John 4:4 . . . You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
